jillian is pretty scary in HD

so let's get something clear. a confession if you will. I am not a television watcher, but I love, love love The Biggest Loser. I don't so much love the advertising they do within the show ("now let me show you something Jenny, you can use these new ziploc bags to put your lunches in and line them up in the fridge to make your meals easier!" or "well, just have some Jenny-O turkey!") but otherwise, it's a really incredible show that shows its merit throughout an entire season.

Wheather you've seen the show or not, it's a pretty awesome inspiration for everyone. People losing over one hundred pounds (or more) in a mere matter of months? And not though some magic all protein or only pencil eraser diet. Nope, no bizzare tactics, only the simple principle of weight loss:

You must exert more calories (energy) than you take in.

Of course, it's easier said than done, and they have the fabulous help of Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, who might have been drill sergeants in their past lives. But regardless, it can be done at home.

Being someone who thrives on routine (don't most women?) I definitely wouldn't get my workouts in unless I wrote them down in my planner. So here's today's little tip:

You Time
Schedule an hour and a half every day for you time. Ideally, it would be some time where you are not needed for say work or your kids or the like. For most of us, this includes three likely times; first thing in the morning; at your lunch break or in the evening. Since most of us don't have the luxury of having an in home gym, start your commute, work out, and come home. The trick is to do something different at each workout. Maybe Monday you do circuit training. Tuesday you go for a jog, Wednesday you do yoga, Thursday weight training, etc. You need to spice it up but always keep your you time date with yourself. If there is still time on your you time stopwatch do something indulgent (that does not include food) that you want to do. Maybe it's taking a bath, writing, watching tv, paroozing the internet or knitting. It should likely not be something productive. Just something for you to zone out and enjoy your endorphins.

And with that, I'm off to circuit training!! I'm joining a new gym and it's rocking my socks off!
