This week I will begin watching my calorie intake but I want it to be fun! I have agreed to limit my calories intake to 1200 calories daily but I have no idea what that looks like and so recording what I eat with an approximate calorie value will give me the guidelines to learn portion control.
There are so many fantastic tools available to record calories and exercise. I have chosen a program called “my fitness pal“.What I like about this particular weight loss tool is that I can record in metric measurements. I also wanted to find a program that allowed me to record both my calorie intake and my exercise output.
Here are a few more to get you started.
livestrong.com (imperial only)
fitwatch.com (imperial and metric)
everyday health.com (imperial and metric)
On target nutrition (imperial only) gives you a 7 day free trial but is a little misleading in that they advertise JOIN FREE but don’t mention the $7.99 a month beyond the first week.
If anyone knows of any other helpful links I’d love to hear about them!

I use the Calorie King book. Its fantastic because it gives you the number of calories in EVERYTHING from fresh fruit to McDonalds to Zarraffas etc…..the mini version was under $10 when I bought it and I found it really useful to keep in the kitchen to help me keep to my calorie allowance for the day. At first its a bit annoying to look up the book before you eat anything, but after a while you get a feel for the number of calories that are in things and you dont have to refer to the book anymore.

Sounds great Shari! Will check it out. Thanks.
Thanks Shari! I didn’t think about having something like that with me. Good one!
My Fitness Pal is a great tool…I used it and you can get it as an app on the iPhone if anyone has one.
Enjoy & have fun xxx
Thanks Nadine! I like that many products already listed for my calorie counting are available in Australia. Woolworths and Coles products galore! Plus you can add any product you have by filling in the nutritional information. I do not have internet access on my phone as yet but I imagine that would be super helpful when out and about.
